Oprah's Golden Retriever, Gracie, died recently. I'm so sad that she had to pass on in such an abrupt and painful way. I bought Bob Greene's Best Life book back in March and all of Oprah's GRs were on the back cover. Gorgeous dogs.

It makes me wonder; is it easier to deal with the death of a loved one if it happens quickly and it is a surprise? Or, is it easier when you're "eased" into the idea of the loved one passing if you see it happening before you over a longer length of time? I don't know. Maybe it depends on the individual?
Nick, you've got another Golden lovely keepin' you company now.

I think it's easier (for those left behind) when you are prepared for a loved one's passing. That way you can get a lot of things said and resolved if necessary. But then again, you hate to see the ones you love suffer.
