Yes, you read right. Rocket! That is Jackson's real name! Rocket's momma saw my ad in the paper and just knew that this was her baby. His momma's name is Maryann and she sounds like a great lady. Rocket has a human brother and sister who miss him very much. I had Maryann describe Rocket, including a distinctive mark on his belly, and I knew for sure it was him. His family is so thrilled and are looking forward to having him home again.
Rocket is 4 years old and he should have been microchipped when he was neutered, but apparently he never was. She promised me that she would get him microchipped. Her teenaged daughter, Natalie, was home along this weekend and she had the flu. She was sleeping in on Sunday. Rocket had an ear infection and had his collar off for a bath, but Natalie didn't wake up. Natalie claims Rocket had gotten out Sunday afternoon, but I think she's pulling one over her mom because I found him early Sunday morning. I'm thinking Natalie is afraid to tell her mom the truth, but I don't care.
I just care that we found Rocket's family! You'll never know how happy I am for him. Maryann said that if I say "Baby was some Chez?" (what Rocket knows as cheese) he'll go nuts. Well, I did that and you should have seen Rocket go bananas for cream cheese! It was hilarious.
So, I'll be returning Rocket to his family this Saturday morning. It's funny, I thought I'd be more heartbroken over handing him over, but I guess the knowledge that he is someone else's furbaby prevented me from becoming emotionally attached in that way with Rocket. That's not to say he isn't adorable as all hell and that we won't miss him.
My heart is at peace that he will be home again. I've been very anxious about how he had been feeling in our home. I've also been anxious about how my own furbabies were feeling about having Jackson/Rocket around. I'll be able to spoil them rotten now because they've been such wonderful hosts to one of their own who had lost his home.
I hope Rocket remembers his foster brothers, Achilles and Milo, with whom he spent time patiently waiting for treats to somehow make their way out of the kitchen cabinet. Achilles licking his lips with satisfaction after an especially delicious treat of dry liver. Yum.
Rocket's turn now...
I'll miss ya, you little bundle of frenzied energy and love. I told your momma that we're available to fur-babysit anytime they want or need. So, there's a chance you'll be back one day for more fresh cooked chicken and doggie massages...we'll be here my Bachai, we'll be here.

You knew that was the case from the beginning didn't you! You are the dog whisperer I swear. I'm so happy for you because your mind is put to rest over the mystery of Jackson Biachi Rocket the Wonder Dog. And I am so glad that I was able to visit yesterday and meet him! His family is sooooo incredibly lucky that you found him and took such great care of him. What a little adventure this guy had! I'm sure Achilles and Milo will be happy as clams to have you back all to themselves. But what about that 6 year old Golden girl??? Still thinking about her????
YAYYY!!!! I'm so happy for you and Rocket! And the boys, who now get their mommy back all to themselves ;-)
