I know we are only 1/3 of the way through baseball season, but do you know when was the last time the Cubs had the best record in baseball as of June 1st? Yup, subtract 100 and you end up in 1908! Wow.
Do you know what also happened that year?! That was the last year the Cubs won a World Series!
I’ve got to keep my emotions in check because you know what they say about us Cubs fans. A lot can happen between now and October, but there is still something in me that is tickly and energized and excited about my Cubbies this year. It’s a great feeling.
The Cubs are just clicking as a team. The chemistry is HOT. There is camaraderie, discipline, hard work, and laughter. I don’t care how great each individual player may be in sports, when you don’t have that energized and unified *spark* you just don’t win. The only thing I’m praying for is that they remain hot into September. That’s when it will really count. Let me just tell you that I may need to be hospitalized with heavy tranquilizers if the Cubs win the World Series this year. I'm serious.
Just as an FYI, it is not as if I come by this knowledge based upon hours of watching baseball on TV. Oh, no sir. Not at all! Man-Boy has hogged the big screen for his Yankees games the entire season so far. With the remodel, we don’t have the use of the other TV for me to watch my Cubs games. So, I’m left to sneak in games on my computer via MLB.com and to read about the heroics at Chicago Sports. (Harumph.)
Well, things are going to change tonight. That’s right baby! We’re going to watch the Cubs live and in living color when they arrive to play the San Diego Padres. We’ve been so busy lately that I’d actually forgotten that we had tickets to the game.
With solid pitching....
...great defense....
...run hungry offense....
....and slap-happy, energized teammates....
...this just may be the year for the Cubbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH. MY. GOD.

As I write this, it is the 4th inning and the Cubs are losing. It seems San Diego may have found their offense just in time for you to go to the game :(. If it makes you feel any better, I know the score because the Mets are sucking up San Francisco (gave up 6 runs in the 1st inning) so I went to see how Carlos Zambrano was pitching (he's my fantasy team ace).
I hope you had a great time, despite the score. I love PETCO. When I was out there years ago, I got to take a tour of the stadium (it wasn't bb season otherwise I would have gone to an actual game). During the tour they actually took us on the field because they were having some sort of turf exhibition. They usually never take the tours on the field. It was so cool.
Tell BelovEd that the Yanks suck this year (they lost too!) and the Cubbies only get this kind of season every 100 years so you win and get the big TV!!!

Yeah Cubbies! And may the Mets come to town (San Diego) and beat the crap out of the Padres too. Although Soriano is an awesome player, and quite a sight from behind, be sure to check out our 3rd baseman. Not too shabby!!!
