Welcome 2008!

Happy New Year Blogistan!

It's a beautiful day here in San Diego. Just a gorgeous day. I slept for almost 12 hours! Whoa. I don't usually sleep that long, but I think my body was trying to tell me something. I've been going non-stop since the Poinsettia Bowl game.
We had a quiet New Year's Eve together, me and my boys. It was a little hectic earlier in the evening as I helped the two little sisters get ready for their party night and sent them on their way. They both looked so pretty and excited.

My Golden sweethearts and I went for our first walk of the New Year together. Papa bear slept in so it was just the three of us. We roamed and explored for over an hour. We met our dog park friend, Evelyne, with her Jake& Tiki. Milo played with them while Achilles kept my feet warm. I have to remind myself all the time that he's an old guy. It's easy to forget since he is so playful and has such a puppy face. Here they are with mommy and Tiki passing in the background. They're both such mama's boys and they totally know it! :-)

Explore, walk, sniff, bark, run, pee on this, pee on that...life is good.
The trees are finally getting the message that it's winter and time to turn colors.
Jake is worn out from running around with Milo.

Had a sweet New Year's Day conversation with Lynney for over an hour when we got back. Other than that, I've pretty much been a vegetable all day long. Enjoying the last of my lazy time before the return to that thing called work. Eckh. Gross. :-)

While on our walk, Achilles, Milo and I discussed many important things. It's a little harder discussing things with them compared to Nick because the two of them tend to distract each other as they race along. But, I was able to share with them that mommy had some things to take care of in '08.

"Like what, Mommy?", asked Achilles.

"Well, I'll tell ya, but first go get your brother. I think he's hunting for cat shit again. His favorite appetizer."

"Oh, brother. Ok, wait here, mommy. I'll go get him."

Achilles trots off and returns with Milo. We continued on our hike and I gave them this list, in no particular order...

Amazing Race: I will NOT miss the application deadline for the Amazing Race again! This year mommy and Auntie S will for sure get on that show and win a million dollars! Yippee!

Photography: I will get back into it again, especially black and white, my favorite. I used to have a dark room, but in this digital age I don't even need a dark room anymore, so there's no excuse!!!

08-08-08: We have got a lot of planning and paperwork to complete in order to get married in Italy...gotta get on that this spring!

Afghanistan: I have to go. Especially after the stories Mom told me. I am aching to breathe in the air from the land of my birth. Can I accomplish this by 2010? We shall see...

Bar: It will be accomplished this year. It has to be. Failure is not an option.

Car: I need to get a sport wagon of some sort so that my Golden babies can be comfortable. I hate minivans and I'm not all that into SUVs, especially with the price of gas these days! I'm kind of in like with the Passat or Volvo wagons. I'm kind of in love with the Subaru wagons and the Honda Element. Decisions, decisions.

Running: I want to get back into it. I'll start small and set my sights on a short run, like a 5K. My Christmas gift will inspire me. Anyone wanna join? :-)

Volunteeer: I didn't do much this year. I'd like to do 20 hours this year at the Domestic Violence clinic and maybe about the same at the Humane Society. I didn't do a run or charity work for any of my favorite organizations and research foundations this year. No excuses!

Books: I will make every book club meeting. I missed too many in 2007 and it pissed me off. I love our book club!

"Uh, mommy? What about us?", asked Milo.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, what do we get this year?" Achilles chimed in as Milo was yet again distracted by the aroma of cat shit.

"Oh, you mean besides a brand new car with doggie padding and cushions?"

"Yeah, besides that! That's boring!" Milo declared as he huffed back over to us.

"Well, seeing as to how a new car is just not enough to show you how much mama loves you silly boys, how about a new recipe or two of treats and good stuff?"

"Yay! That sounds great mama! Whadya think Milo?"

(In a goofy, oompa-loompa voice), "Uuuuh, well, does it have kitty poop as an ingredient?"

"Oh, brother," harumphs Achilles, shaking his head.

"No Milo, no kitty poop in these delicious dishes. Sorry buddy. How about meatball poppers with ground lamb instead of chicken or turkey, with brocolli, barley and apples mixed in? Hmm?"

"Sounds good to me!" says Achilles as he skips off to greet dog park buddies.

"Me too!" says Milo as he gives my hand a quick lick before turning to follow his brother, trotting off with his cute bubble butt.

It doesn't take much to make them happy, huh? DOGS! I love 'em!!!

Happy 2008 to one and all! :-)

Happy New Year! I sometimes think that reading other people's blogs is intrusive, seeing parts I shouldn't be seeing. But then I assure myself if they didn't want it out there, they wouldn't be writing it on a blog. So I hitch my chair a little closer and dig in for a wonderful time. I am looking forward to a year of learning more about your golden duo and hearing about your wedding. I'm so jealous - what a place to get married! And we will be looking for you on the Amazing Race, one of our favorite shows.

The things we do for our animals! I traded in my truck for a Nissan Sentra so Sadie wouldn't have such a tough time getting up inside. Now for some reason she hates riding in the car entirely.

Mindy, that is hilarious! I think some dogs get a bit carsick. Achilles throws up if he has to ride in a car for a long time. Laura's dog, Wrigley, also gets carsick.

Kisses to beautiful Sadie girl. I love her pictures!
