My first spin class of 2008. Actually, I guess this counts as my first workout of the new year---other than shooting my mouth off! Tee hee. With all the holiday stuff going on I haven’t been able to keep to my regular health schedule the last 3 weeks. It felt good to be back in the saddle, so to speak.
Boy, it was something else! I had a full class of 25 kids (as I like to call my full grown adult students).
SWEAT. Crazy energy. SWEAT. Music. SWEAT. Breathe--steady, hard, powerful. SWEAT. Heart--steady, hard, powerful. Did I mention SWEAT? Whew! I love the feel and sensation of my heart muscles expanding, stretching, contracting, becoming stronger and stronger, more fibrous and thick, with every hot, steady pedal stroke.
Amazing sensation. Simply amazing.
By the way, I love my New Year Resolutioners…they bring their own brand of energy to the class. Every year I pray that more than just 10% of them will actually stick to their resolution. I want them to always keep their healthy trend.
My regular kids---who attend faithfully every week---don’t like the new kids very much. They come in droves. They take up all the bikes by 5:30 a.m. They don’t know the rules yet. There was some irritation at the start of class. I was able to soothe all the ruffled feathers and we were on our way! It was a great workout!
Now, I just have to motivate myself to start running again. Belov-Ed gave me an awesome MP3 player for Christmas and I’m almost done setting it up. That’ll help me get started. That and several workout bras layered one-over-another-over-another-over-yet-another.
You ask why?
I’ll tell you…to keep my “twins” in check so they don’t give me a black eye, if ya know what I mean!!!
That and the fact that I don’t want National Geographic Boobies by the time I’m 35! Ha ha ha!
Hope you have a great healthy day! :-)

Girl, that's exactly why I've never been able to run! That, and I HATE it!! tee hee! Here we are three days into the new year, and I haven't kept my resolution to exercise. I suck!! I need to set a good example for my darling son, but I suck!!! He went to the doctor yesterday to check in after 6 weeks of watching his diet, and my baby has lost 23 pounds! I'm SOOOO proud of him! If only his mother could get her blubbery butt in gear, huh?
Whoooooaaaa! That's FOUR POUNDS per week!!! Jeezaloo. How did he do that?! It seems like a drastic drop in weight just from watching waht you eat. Bottle it and sell it, whatever the magic potion is! :-)
And if it's not too personal, why did he do it? If it's too personal, you can blog-slap me.
As for you...I wish you lived out here! We'd have a blast together at the gym. I'm forever looking for a workout buddy that'll stick it out with me. I go on amazing hikes with my friend, Lynne, but that doesn't happen as often as I'd like and it's because it's my fault.
Too bad! But, maybe we can hook up in Italy this summer and hike the Tuscan hills. Maybe we'll run into a hottie biscotti, or two! :-)
