I thank God for the military and the sacrifice the members make. No matter your opinion on politics and social issues regarding war and the military, it is still a magnificent sacrifice to behold when one human takes on the safeguarding of another fellow human.
My family and I are profoundly grateful for the sacrifices of the U.S. military. After all, if you've seen "Charlie Wilson's War", you know that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for American servicepersons, whether in active military or clandestine operations. I never take it for granted and I never forget it.
Because I am lucky enough to live in America, and blessed even further by living in beautiful San Diego, I had the honor to enjoy a hike in our "backyard" with my soul sister, beautiful Lynne. Torrey Pines was spectacular today. Early morning we were up and at 'em. Ed took the boys to the dog park for their morning constitutional. Lynne & I headed out to play in the backyard.
Breathtaking view after we reached the summit of our first climb. The stark tree on the left, I love it.
We spent almost two hours hiking and walking. Talking and laughing with Lynne is a spa day for my spirit. We laughed our heads off when we saw a seagull trying to fly headfirst into the wind....
Only to realize that it was KITE!!! Some artistic and creative person built an amazing life-like seagull kite. We had to get closer and get more video. It was hilarious!!!
I'm off to scrounge up some Memorial Day grub!

Thanks for stopping by our site. Your babies are beautiful! Of course, I a biased as they are Golden Retrievers. Your videos made me smile and I will be back. I hope to get more of my double trouble up today.
It's safe to say that neither of you two will find work in the CIA.
Your pictures are BREATHTAKING!! We are soooo spoiled here it's not even fair...
Miss you my friend.
I am laughing so hard at that seagull kite! I would have been a 'concerned pedestrian' as well, wondering what was wrong with the poor gull! :-)
Your comments about the servicemen touched me, KBL. I am the child of a career military man. It's funny - he and I are VERY different (I'm fairly liberal regarding most social issues and he's pretty staunchly conservative) however I'm extremely patriotic and love my country and it's so nice to have people say just a general "thank you" to those who have served. I agree with you that it doesnt' matter your political leaning or how you feel about the currently quagmire we find ourself in in Iraq, it's important to remember the individual humans who safeguard our liberty and freedom.
OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.
:-)
Looks like your Mem Day was beautiful - we had a lovely weekend at the beach and (unfortunately!) had to come home today... I would have stayed for 3 more days if we could!
PS: I agree with you about being offended by the NO DOGS sign on the beach! We were unable to bring our sweet Ruby to our beach either, but I know she would have loved to splash and cavort in the waves. (dogs + surf = cavorting).
She was SO happy to see us when we got home tonight. (And we were happy to see her too.) :-)
Beautiful pictures! Sounds like a really lovely day! Happy Memorial!
Beautiful pics. The hike looks SO nice.
I agree with you comments about our servicemen and women. They are what makes this country so great. They don't get enough credit.
It sounds like you had a great Memorial Day. I love your 3/4 Jig, though wish for you it could have been 4/4.
On a side note, Dudley's Blog is up and running at http://dudleydiary.blogspot.com/. I hope I haven't jinxed him by giving him his own blog.
The pictures are gorgeous. I am jealous that it is right in your back yard. I did a find your place survey that told me San Diego and San Franciso were ideal for me. Too bad it would be so far from my family :(
Glad your weekend was fabulous...
Beautiful pictures...does the sign with the tick on it seriously say "actual size"?...That gives me the heebie jeebies.
Having looked again, I see the little circle that refers to actual size...I'm such a bonehead (although ticks still give me the heebie jeebies)
I too am HIGHLY offended by the golden being exploited for use on a "no dogs allowed" sign. I'm firing off a couple letters to government officials! Sure, most people will "read" that sign an know that no dogs are allowed. I read it as saying "No fun allowed."
That looks like a wonderful way to spend the day. I love seeing the photos of the beach and the hike.
Blessings to you!
