A Wee Bit Nervous...

As Busy Bee Suz' very hawt & handsome FIL would tell you, having good cookware and good knives is essential in the kitchen. While I don't have the awesome collection of Calphalon that he does, I do have a few pieces in my kitchen that I cannot live without. The workhorse in our house is this little mean green machine, my 7 quart wide round Le Creuset---

The picture doesn't do it justice because the color is a gorgeous hot lime green. But, who cares about the color when this baby works on food like a dream. It is truly a mastery of cast iron and porcelain enamel. I love my strong, spirited little cooking pot.

Well, Ed has been working some VERY LONG hours lately, so I've been carrying the cooking load for us for awhile. Tonight, he got home at a decent hour and wanted to cook dinner for us. It involves penne, mushrooms, crab, some kind of sauce, herbs, and a bunch of other good smelling stuff. The dish is called "Don't Worry About It." Maybe you've heard of it? No? Well, that's his answer every time I ask him what he's cooking.

Ok, so I wasn't worried about until he said...(pause here for effect and drama),

"Baby, can you bring out the Le Creuset?"

(((GASP!))) Mon Dieu! He can't be serious!? What the French Toast is that all about!? (that was for Suz) :-)

He knows I don't let ANYONE use my Le Creuset. He's not anyone so he forced me to let him use my baby workhorse. Now, I'm sitting here patiently waiting for dinner, blogging away, and just a wee bit nervous. He'd better not scratch my baby! Does he remember to only use wooden or silicone spoons? I hope he remembers the time he messed up my All Clad saucepan. Oh my God, I literally cried. What? So I like my cookware. I cook a LOT and these pots and pans make my life easier. They make me love cooking that much more. Almost as much as Dwight Yoakam. Ha! Seriously, I'm sure all of you feel this way about something in your kitchen.

It feels good to just be kicking back, tell ya the truth. I'm going to pour myself a glass of Twin Poms pomegranate wine. However, I do miss having these two as my cook's helpers-

Laverne tries to catch falling food in mid-air. That's how mah gurrrl rolls!

Milo? Well, he's here sleeping on my feet. :-) Mama's Boy!

You know, I have always looked at these babies longingly at the store..and I always wonder: Do I need this?
I think the answer is yes. I love that color too. (it matches your blog background today!)
I have some nice pots and pans too (much thanks to my FIL) and I am a little picky about people using them as well. NO METAL SPOONS!!!! Yes, we should make a kitchen sign stating this.
I hope the dinner is delish..but how could it not be? It is made with hawt love.

Son of a biscuit eating bulldog!!!

I'm sooo jealous! That's one of the few things I have yet to obtain in my dream kitchen. Hey, I've got TWO Kitchen Aide stand mixers (the professional series, of course!) I probably only need one....Wanna trade? ;-)

Good morning! Haven't stopped by in a while and thought I'd see how you & the fam are doing. Since we have 2 places I have doubles of kitchen cookware, and in some cases 3 of the same thing.I don't know how I will decide what to get rid of when we move to farr North Idaho for good in a few years.I think I've lost my love of our (old) Revere Ware since discovering WearEver. I polish my RevereWare's copper bottom after each use and sometimes it's hard to get burnt on food off the inside. My WearEver pots clean up like a charm! Seems I never get anything burnt on them!! hmmm. I guess it could be my stove top.
