Happy 12th Birthday Milo!!!

Tonight we had a celebration!!! Our Milo D. Bear turned 12 years old today.

My sweet bear, he has been the noblest, the most compassionate & sensitive, and the SILLIEST of doggies. We adopted Milo & Achilles in August of 2007, and even though our Achilles said goodbye to us in June last year, God blessed us with more of "Da Bear" in our lives.

We've rescued and adopted "Olden Goldens" since 2005, and because of the advanced ages of the pups we've brought home, we ended up losing them before they were even with us for two years. Thus far, Milo has been with us the longest, and for that we are ever grateful. On this 12th birthday of our Love Bear, he has been a part of our family for 2 years and 5 months....we're on a roll! :-)

Milo's little sisters, Laverne & Shirley, knew there was something special going on today. They could smell the yummy aromas coming from the kitchen. Could it be? CHICKEN CAKE?! Say it isn't so Mama!

They all kept me company as I started with soft-boiled basmati rice and broccoli crowns-

To which I added poached sweet potatoes (skin on for fiber and nutrients!)-

Then some shredded chicken breast, carrots, celery, olive oil and parsley-

And some eggs and a bit of lamb dog food (wet) to help it all bind together-

Spread it into a baking dish and sprinkle with some parmesan-

Bake until golden brown, let cool, and prepare for yogurt icing-

Decorate with steamed green beans-

And some shredded lamb jerky-

And then let the birthday boy have at it!

I think he liked it!

There was a bit of "controlled" chaos in the kitchen when we first presented the birthday boy with his cake....poor Laverne & Shirley thought they were going to be left out or something. You would think they would know better by now! (They got a heaping helping, for sure!)

My Milo love, he is such a good boy. Such a gentle, patient soul. It thrilled me to see him happily gobbling up his birthday fare-

Even Captain Morgan joined in the celebration. He had some of our spinach fettucine...it is a riot watching him eat long pasta like fettucine. He holds it like a worm. The video is dark, but you can kind of see him chowing down-

My beloved Milo, I pray you'll be with us for a long time yet. Happy Birthday and know that we love you SO MUCH.

Milo hopes you all had a great Monday night as well. He would tell you himself, but he's knocked into a food coma here at my feet. Ha!!!
