It was a stunning, breezy, and warm sunny day in San Diego this afternoon. My Chicago Cubbies were in town for 3 game set vs. the Padres. Unfortunately, not only did my Cubbies lose, they were SWEPT by the Padres. Not the most fun I've had at a game, but what are ya gonna do, right?
San Diego is a military town. Big time. Well, there are always sections of seats reserved for the women and men of our military service. They sit proud and regal watching the game, and at the end, they line up in formation and patiently await our mass exodus. Only then do they march in line down to their waiting buses.
I took these two pictures of the Marines in their formation on the upper deck. They made me very proud.
On this Memorial Day, may all of your loved ones who have served be remembered and honored as they richly deserve, and if they are currently serving or will serve in the future, may they be blessed and happy and healthy.
Thanks to Blogistani Ben at http://streetpolo.blogspot.com for coming up with the idea of Sunday Photo.

What a great photo...those men and women always give me the chills. So proud, so strong. I hope they at least enjoyed the game.

I'm a big baby anyway but when I see formations like that it always brings tears to my eyes and makes me gasp.
I grew up in CA but never noticed all the Marine's in the area until I was there last month visiting with a Marine friend and then I saw Marine's everywhere I went.
Cool pictures of something I have never seen at a ball game. But I remember all the military presence (ships, airplanes) when we were in San Diego/Coronado.
That is a beautiful photo. I agree with Suz, immediate tears to the eys....
Great photo. I am the daughter of a career military man (which I've probably mentioned before) so my heart always really swells when I see this.
Because, as we all know, Freedom Isn't Free.
Thank you to all the armed services for what they do for us!
Thank you for posting these photos. I admire the discipline and strength of character of our military personnel. I hope that national service of some sort will be required someday, even if it's building roads, teaching, or providing social services; it doesn't have to be soldiering. Wouldn't we all better appreciate the gifts we have, if everyone served one another in some capacity?
And I'm sorry your Cubs lost. =(
