Well, waiting for "next" year begins to wear on you when you're waiting for next year for EACH and EVERY ONE of your teams to WIN. Come on already!
The perennial "wait til next year" team, my Chicago Cubbies...

Then there are Da Monsters of Da Midway, my Chicago Bears....I had been in America only a short time before I fell in love with football. In the 5th grade we did the Super Bowl Shuffle on stage at Andrew Jackson Language Academy, and I've never been the same since.
Walter "Sweetness" Payton, Da Fridge, Da Punky QB Jim McMahon, Gary Fencik, Richard Dent, oh, I can go on and on.....The Super Bowl win that year was the single greatest football game I'll ever witness in my life. I'm patiently waiting for my Bears' "next" Super Bowl win. It's been 24 years already, let's go Bears!!!!!!
Then there are my beloved Chicago Bulls. The 90s with Air Jordan, sidekick Scottie Pippen, Steve Kerr, and even D Rodman, along with the Zenmaster himself, were a magical time in Chicago. Da Bulls' 6 NBA Championships all came during a time in my family when things were stable and happy, and I love those memories. Please come back beloved Bulls!!!! THIS is your NEXT year!
Awwww, hell, I'm going to throw in the Chicago Blackhawks while I'm here. I know that most people don't watch hockey anymore, but I grew up in and near Little Italy in Chicago, so hockey was a sport much loved by my friends. I love hockey and it makes me mad what has happened to the NHL over the years. Maybe all that's needed is a return to the championships for my Blackhawks and all will be well again!!!
I've stuck to professinal sports for this post, but that's not to diminish my passion for college sports. The DePaul Blue Demons and the Syracuse Orange are on my radar as well.....come on already! Let's win another one for KBL!!! Please? ;-)
N is for "NEXT".....and it is about time that N becomes "NOW" for my favorite sports teams. YAH BABY!!!!

You're so cute.
And yes, Walter Payton was a sweetheart. A good, good man. I think everyone loved him and admired him. I know I did.
I felt a little sick when I read this and realized that I was a freshman in college for that superbowl! I am so OLD (sigh!) As far as the Cubs go, I can only say LET'S GO METS:)
You are so funny. I love that YOU love your Sports...and you have not left them, even though you have left the town!!!
I'm with Mary Beth, I thought the same thing! I was a senior in high school. I also had just started dating CSJ about 2 months before that Superbowl, and my mother would NOT let me go watch it at his house. She decided that we were going to have our own Superbowl party, which is so freakin' hilarious, cuz NO ONE in my family gives a rat's ass about ANY sports!!!! She made appetizers, dips, desserts, etc., then made my dad, brother and sister sit there and pretend we were all having such a great time at our "party!" Ah, good times, good times....
My brother has tickets to today's Cubs Home Opener, but as I type this, it's pouring outside, and has been for about 4 hours, at least. I have a feeling there's going to be a rain delay...
Have you seen the SNL routine with Michael Jordan and Chris Farley, where they keep talking about "da Bears," "da Bulls" and "anudder dynasty in progress? (you must have)? It's a scream. Wishing you and your teams success.
Well, I hope your teams will come through for you soon! I don't follow sports much, but my husband does. He also cheers for teams that are always waiting for it to be "next" year--Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. HA! Happy Monday to you. :D
Funny!!
We aren't too much into sports, but living close to Cincinnati OH
we have the Bengals and the Reds and I would say they will Never go far again at the rate they have been the past many years.
I know a little about "wait til next year", living in the Cleveland market area. The esteemed Indians are off to a 1-5 start. Auspicious, eh? And the Browns? Fahgettaboutit!
GO CAVS!
Being from "Bawlmer", I'm waiting for a good year for the O's. (Orioles, that is) Great post!
That's the cleverest N yet! Poor Cubbies.
Awww you're so cute!
Well, for you girl, I hope your teams do good NOW!! You seem to be quite the fan.And you also connect the teams with good memories. That's nice. Good N word!
