Easter Bears

What a beautiful Easter Sunday here in San Diego. Wow! Sunny, breezy, warm, simply gorgeous. I talked to our family in Connecticut and it was 32 degrees there today! I went to Easter Mass with my Catholic Man-Boy this morning....at 7:30 a.m. Yup, you read right, 7:30 A.M. My beloved husband likes the more traditional mass, not the later "hippie mass". He can't stand the rainstick. [snort, snort] :-)

My golden friend, Lynne, asked if she could dog-nap the "Easter Bears" for the day. Achilles and Milo haven't been to Lynne & Amos' in a while and they were thrilled to pieces. We usually have an Easter cookout at our house, but this year we decided to go to Coronado Island and have Easter brunch at the Coronado Boathouse. It was such a great time and the buffet was out of this world. Yuuuummmmmmmmmmm!

Easter Bear Milo, enjoying his Easter "Bully Stick"....
This morning he completed his daily "toasting" before heading off for his play date with More Mommy Lynne and More Daddy Amos. Oh Blogistan, he is HYSTERICAL when he's out there. I wish you could see him do this live and in living color. You have NEVER seen anyone or any dog enjoy something so thoroughly. It's a joy to watch.
Easter Bear Achilles, more of a shade lover, patiently awaiting his chauffeurs to dutifully drive him to his play date.
Ok, sometimes, Achilles will sit in partial shade. Isn't my senior puppy just a handsome love? (((sigh))) I want to crawl into this picture and just rain kisses on his head!!!

In our house, the "Eid-ster Bunny" visits every year. As a Muslim, I celebrate Eid, so my Beloved is my Eid-ster Bunny every year. His basket is on the right and he's had since he was 4 or 5 years old. He likes milk chocolate and he found his basket within the 1st minute of searching. Mine is on the left and he bought it for me the first year we were dating. I'm a dark chocolate fiend and the Eid-ster bunny obliges me every year. ;-) This year it didn't take me 45 minutes to find my basket, like it normally does. Ha! I found it in like 3 or 4 minutes. Whew!
If you ever visit San Diego, you MUST tour Coronado Island, and you must eat at the Boathouse. The views are breathtaking and the food incredible. Easter with some of our friends and family. It was a wonderful time.
Me and my Eid-ster Bunny.
After brunch and a little walk about the island, we came back home where my Eid-ster Bunny settled in for a nap. I went to gather my golden Easter Bears at Lynne's, where I had a cocktail with friends and met a very interesting woman. She was full of life and energy and she is a runner. She is literally the female Forrest Gump. Her stories were outstanding.
I put my Golden babies into their red chariot and we were off to the dog park, where we spent an hour wandering about, sniffing, barking, chasing, licking, wagging, greeting, pooping, and sending and receiving pee-mail. It was fun. I should leave pee-mail more often. Such a relief when you really have to go.
Now, I've got tired, sleeping Easter Bears. Beware, here comes the Sleeping Stalker Momma again....
Sleeping Achilles...I so adore the way he curls his paws in towards him. Sometimes I kiss the top of his paws when he sleeps.
This will be the sleeping Easter Bears tonight. Sometimes, but not always, Milo gets the business end of the sleeping train. I think Achilles makes sure to save up all of his farts for nights like this, given that he is the one usally getting farted on by Milo.
I hope everyone had a great day. Of all of my Catholic Man-Boy's holidays, Easter is my favorite. I like to people watch when I'm at church with him, and it seems to me that people seem to be more reverent and introspective at Easter than at Christmas. It is also the holiday when MOST of the parishioners make their debut at church, so there are hundreds of new faces for me to study. I enjoy watching everyone walk past me to receive communion, and as they pass, I make up names for each of them in my head and try to figure out their "stories". It is actually one of my favorite pasttimes. But don't worry, I also love going to church with Beloved because his church, St. Brigid's, because it is one of my favorite places to pray. But, after prayer, it's time for me to people watch! Tee hee.
Anyway, Happy Easter to my all my peeps in Blogistan!

What a great day. I love all of the photos. Your boys are all gorgeous, including your Eid-ster Bunny, of course.
I loved your people-watching confession. That was one of Katie's MOST favorite pastimes, too. I think you two would have hit it off hugely! XO Happy Eid!

I love your Easter...it seems way more fun than mine. Your little (ok, big) Easter bears are so cute...it seems they had a very big day...a play date and then an hour at the park? Please don't tell cocoa and Ozzie this...they spent 7 hours today on the couch while I was at my Grandmas!!!
I told them it is an Easter traditon for all dogs!!!

Great post! I love that you and Ed make baskets for each other. Ron and I did that when we were newlyweds until the kids came.... I used to pack his full of all his "weird" foods that he loves (smoked oysters, white chocolate, anchovies, etc.). Fun memories.

And the dogs photos are adorable. I loved Achilles sitting there waiting for his ride... so sweet. And the farting comment made me laugh. Diva can clear a ROOM with her farts. I had some friends over the other day who are CAT people (they have never owned a dog) and Diva cut loose with one of her "silent-but-deadly" bombs.... I thought the little girl was going to burst into tears... the older child ran shrieking out of the room. My kids were, of course, laughing hysterically. :)

I know what you mean about Easter. Our church wound up having FOUR services to accommodate everyone! Four!! It's very emotional for a lot of people... I usually cry at some point during Easter; just due to the sacrifice that Jesus made, and the love he showed.

I'm glad you and your sweet husband had a great Easter.

P.S. You and your sister are both so beautiful.... you both just RADIATE beauty and happiness! :)

What a great post! I loved the pictures of your Easter Bears, so sweet! Your commentary about the "business end of the train" cracks me up.

We really should try to get our pups together one of these days. I thought of you yesterday when we took gang to Del Mar dog beach yesterday afternoon after brunch. They had a blast!

Have a great week!
