Isn't there some unwritten rule out there that exempts a newlywed couple from having to do anything "married couple-ish" for the first year!? WTF people!????
Your fellow Muslim gal here has to find CHRISTMAS cards on the Friday before Christmas to mail out to said Muslim gal's Catholic family. Did ya follow that? Yeah, me neither.
All I've been able to find are some cheeseball cards at Big Lots. Oh Allah, help me. Please.
This on top of the fact that thank-you cards have still NOT been sent out for all our wedding gifts. Belov-Ed is supposed to handle those. HA! We'd better have a year on those suckers or I tell you what.....
Are you there Allah, it's me, KBL.....can you help a sister out with some Christmas cards?

SHAMELESS PLUG COMING!! If you had more time and the inclination for some "non traditional" Christmas cards, we have some great ones in our store, www.heyteach.biz :)
Maurice Sendak, The Grinch, Curious George, Olivia the Pig.
This is not fun, the week before the holiday. You can find some great cards online, if you don't mind paying extra for quick shipping...or you can make them on your computer, using clip-art. (You can find some great vintage Christmas art at the Vintage Clip Art site on my sidebar.)
If you want a photo card, Costco can turn them around in less than a day; you can choose, create & order it online, and pick up at your local store, and you can use one of your wedding photos in it!
Email me if you want any more suggestions. Blessings!
Karen has great ideas...I took pics at home and went to costco in a few hours and picked them up. You can take a pic of both of you....the dogs....or just your hands w/ your wedding rings....oh, if I was there w/ my camera.....good luck.
You can always scrap the Christmas cards and send New Years cards in early January. ;)
Oh my GAWD!!! Helen, I totally didn't even think of Hey Teach!!! Jeezaloo. I wish I would have read these comments before I went scrambling all over town last night! I ended up finding some.
Karen and Suz, the problem with the photo ones is that we already have special thank you/new year cards going out in January. I'm almost done working on those.
I needed to find some nice, traditional, religious holiday ones...and I did! Little snowman playing the piano in the woods to "Silent Night"....really cool.
I won't forget Hey Teach again!
Of course you're exempt! Newlyweds are expected to be swinging from the chandelier, having hot passionate sex the whole first year. (At least that's what WE were doing....)
;-)
Seriously, though, this is one of the things I HATE about Christmas... all the STRESS that comes with it. It's ridiculous, not fun, and completely unnecessary. And I'm sorry you're dealing with it.
You know, if you really want to make a POINT... JibJab has some VERY funny e-cards (where you can super-impose your face, Ed's face, and even Milo and Achilles' faces on the cards). Some are VERY funny. You can send those to your more open minded family members.
(At the very least, check them out.... they are VERY funny. www.jibjab.com - go to the Christmas cards section, Video Cards, Starring "ME").
And don't stress. PLEASE!
Diva send slobbery kisses. You would never know she had (basically) a hysterectomy 72 hours ago. AMAZING....
PS: LOVED the Judy Blume reference there at the end.... (I read ALL her books as a kid.)
:-)
Ok buy some cheap cheezy Big Lots cards and print out any of the 10,478 pics you have of your fuzzy monsters and afix them to the front of cheap Big Lots card and voila! The cutest Christmas cards ever!
Ok guess I should have read the comments first before posting mine. So scrap that idea. :(
i saw some funny ones at a funky gift shop that said one the front
"i'll be home for christmas" and on the inside read "and in therapy by new years"
for me that was particularly appropriate
