Amos has been working on a metal sculpture for our gift. Yesterday he brought it over to lovingly tease us with it. It's not quite done yet, he still has to polish and paint. From the minute he told us what he was doing, Ed and I knew *exactly* where we wanted the Eagle to fly. As you can see, he will be soaring on the landing of our new rooftop deck! What do you think????
This picture does not do it justice. Breathtaking how incredible it looked up there! You can see it clear from the back streets, the canyons, and my friend Maria will be able to see it from her house in La Jolla. (Maria and I have used binoculars and flashlights to communicate from our respective rooftops. Soooo much fun!)
I've often talked about Amos' kinetic metal art. He'll also travel the country in search of the most perfect slab of stone to carve. His gallery is linked on the right and I would love it if you would all take the time to scroll through the 5 pages of pictures. You'll see the original eagle that Amos sculpted, with which we fell promptly in love with. It is on pages 3 and 4.
You'll also see "My Bike", which is currently featured on the pier at the San Diego Embarcadero as part of the city's Urban Trees project. It is absolutely majestic to see that bike's red wheels spinning and sparkling in the sunshine. When you walk or drive by it all you can exclaim is "Wow!". You'll see the large scale "My Bike" on pages 4 and 5. Tell me the image of that sculpture doesn't take you back to your childhood, hair flying in the wind as you sail down the street on your favorite bike (even if it is purple, Happy Wife!).
Amos and Lynne, our precious friends. Not possible to describe in words how we feel about them. It is always a wonderful moment when you receive a gift. But, when you know that a gift is painstakingly hand shaped, created from imagination, and completed just for you with love and affection, it is literally priceless. PRICELESS.
We affectionately refer to our gift as "The Iggle". Very, very soon, The Iggle will come to fly at its permanent home.
I. CANNOT. WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is so awesome. What a gift!!!!
You will have many many years of enjoying your Iggle.
THAT is a beautiful photo.
(I'll have to Google "My Bike" and see if I can find some images.... because, after all, I WAS queen of the road as a kid on my purple bike... riding with no hands, wind through my curly hair.... FREEDOM...) :-)
I love your eagle. He is magnificent.
What a love-filled, heart-felt, original gift. There is nothing like having the work of someone's loving, artistic hands to grace your home. Can't wait to see photos of the view from the deck!
Good morning. :-)
Diva did great... I posted an update on her blog... she's a little cranky and sleepy (I doubt she got much sleep at the vet), but all in all, she is fine. The vet said to keep her activity level low for the next 2 - 3 days (yeah, RIGHT!). But she is getting lots of snuggles. She slept between me and Hubster last night. (MUCH better than a cold kennel in a vet's office...) Thanks for your sweet concern, my friend. And tell Achilles & Milo thanks for their wagging tails of concern as well. :-)
What a great gift! So personal and beautiful.
