Wrigley's Party!

"Hey Achilles, you awake? Huh? Huh? Huh?"

"Grrr. I am NOW. Whaddya want?" (Achilles yawns big and slowly stretches.)

"Boy, we sure did have some fun yesterday, didn't we? Huh? Huh? Do you think Mommy and Daddy will take us to Auntie Laura and Wrigley's house again? Huh?"

"Jeezaloo, Milo, can't you see I was sleepin'? What's your point?"

"What's my point!? What's my point!? My point is that I HAD A BLAST at Wrigley's birthday party!"

"Great. I'm happy for you. I had a blast also. Now, can I go back to sleep?"

"Oh, I guess." (Pouting)

"Stop pouting. Do you want to nap together? Will that make you feel better?"

"Mmm, I guess so."

"Well, what if I also tell you that More Mommy Lynney is coming over for dinner tonight? Would THAT make you feel all better?"

"Oh boy! Would it ever! I love our More Mommy. I wanted to visit her this morning on my walk our mommy but she said we had to get back because you were alone at home."

"Yah, you know why I was alone at home? Because I was sleeping."

"Ok, ok. I get it. But, hey big brother, I have one more question...please?"

"Go ahead. What is it?"

"Can I put my head on your tummy while we nap? Huh? Can I big brother?"

"Ya, ya, ya. Go ahead. But only if you promise to shut it."

"I do! I promise. Let's nap!"

Achilles and Milo drift off back to sleep...

**************************************************

Dreams of their big day at Wrigley's party filled their heads.

The day began with a road trip to Orange County. Mommy and Daddy rigged up the car with blankies and pillows so their boys could be comfortable for the ride. But, about halfway up it started to get a bit cramped back there. That's ok, there was only about 30 minutes to go...
Oh boy! Did Auntie Laura go out of her way to decorate for her boy Wrigley! Auntie Laura's house was very, very nice.
There were lots of doggies there. Ahem, there were lots of GOLDENS there.
Wrigley's birthday hat.
Uncle Tom brought out the doggie birthday cake that Auntie Laura baked. Wrigley's littermate, his brother Casey, also turned 2 yesterday, so it was kind of his day too. That's Casey on the right by Uncle Tom and Wrigley is by Auntie Laura. She must have baked and decorated for long time because the cake looked great. It tasted even better! Yummm.
Lots of play time with new doggie pals.
Lots and lots of play time. Sniffing. Humping. Licking. Jumping. Barking. Wagging. A great time was had by all.
Auntie Laura planned Golden Olympics for us. Achilles won the Longest Sit award! Mommy and Daddy were so proud.
Cousin Wrigley's a comedian. He pretended he was Prince Wrigley bowing down and presenting his paw for a proper shake before Queen Auntie Laura.
Mommy and Auntie Laura also got birthday hats. Like our Mommy, Auntie Laura is also a Cubs fan.
(Psss, don't tell anyone, but Mommy wanted to dognap Chloe, but she forgot to bring her giant purse.)
Mommy liked squishing Chloe. We wished she would only squish US, but alas, we sometimes have to share our Mommy with our four-legged pals.
Chumley the Cat hosted the party for his brother Wrigley, so we didn't think it was fair that he had to be locked up in Auntie Laura's office....
...but, Auntie Laura and Mommy did take some birthday cake up to him. Mommy said Chumley was very, very mad at Auntie Laura for keeping him locked up. Poor Auntie Laura, she felt bad about it, but it was for Cousin Chumley's own good. He did like the cake though! :-)

Wrigley's birthday doggie cake. Yum. Lots of chicken in there. We LOVE chicken.
Milo won the Longest Stay award. Yay Milo!
Our new pals, the Golden Gaggle of Goofballs. From left, Lola and her human sister, Mommy and Achilles, Daddy and Milo, Casey with his paw bandana, Molly (Casey's sister, and yes, she's a Cocker Spaniel), and then there's Cousin Wrigley in the far right by Auntie Laura.
Milo stole Wrigley's chew toy and forgot that he was annoyed by the birthday hat on his head.
Mommy and Daddy had to take their obligatory "self portrait" picture. They're silly. Tee hee.
When we needed a break from play time, Mommy and Daddy were there for us. They love us soooooo much.
Pretty Auntie Laura with Handsome Cousin Wrigs. He was a happy boy all day.
Me and my daddy. Mommy says he's the "mostest handsomest in the whole worldest". Achilles was playing, but I needed a little break.
There was a Doggie Day Spa! Achilles wasn't in the mood for a doggie massage, but I certainly loved it. Auntie Laura's sister, Auntie Beth, gave me a great massage. (Actually, Mommy just wanted me to distract Auntie Beth while she squished and loved on Chloe. Auntie Beth is Chloe's mommy.)
The birthday gang.
Here are our awards:

Auntie Laura also gave us goodie bags of homemade dog biscuits, a football cookie, a smiley face cookie, a CD of Wrigley's favorite doggie tunes, a bottle of organic cleaner for doggie smells, and our awards. We love you Auntie Laura. Thank you!!!
Then it was time to head back home to San Diego. Mommy said we were "dog tired". We didn't get that line. Huh?

Here are some videos Mommy took at Wrigs' party. Bye bye for now!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Laura must still be recovering from the bash, cuz she hasn't posted any yet! I'm glad you guys had such a good time. But, just for the record, I'd rather spend the whole day with my 30 "off the chain" babies than spend even 10 minutes in the chaos I saw in that video!!! Ugh! Too bad I couldn't ship Buster out for the party. Maybe his Auntie Laura or Auntie N would have wanted to keep him....

LOL! Mindy, I guess you could say that Chumley and I “bonded”. Ha ha! Laura and I went up to give him some cake. He was sitting on the sofa in the craft room. So, I sat on the other end and just let him come to me. Well, he came over ever so gently and with kindness. He looked so peaceful and meowed like a good little cat. Then, he unleashed his little kitty wrath! No blood was drawn and I came out with only one earring missing and some smeared lipstick. :-)

No, seriously though, he wasn’t happy about being in the room by himself since he was the one who invited everyone. But, it was for his own good since several of our canine friends would have made his day hell. Totally understandable that with his level of anxiety he would be unhappy. Poor kitty! BUT, Mama did give him a giant piece of cake and Tom gave him lots of love later on, so all ended well. I actually am in love with Mr. Chums.

Mary Beth, funny you should mention that! Tom made a similar comment about his own birthdays and Laura, in her own defense, replied that she didn’t know Tom when he turned 2 years old. So true! In all seriousness though, as we are all pet lovers, we do the things we do for our pets because it brings US joy to give them something extra. Wrigley has no concept of a birthday party and couldn’t care less anyway. But, it was nice to have his birthday as an opportunity to combine friends, laughter, a copious amount of silliness, and the shared love of our animals. It was a pretty special day. And yes, I too would LOVE it if someone made such a hullabaloo over MY birthdays. Ha ha ha! :-)

Miss Amanda, I hope your little bruised foot and your Princess Piglet are feeling better. Maybe one day you’d like to vacation in San Diego and we could host you and your feline sidekick. I have an idea, maybe ALL the east coast sisters can come out! I would love it. I think Helen would love the gardens and historical Balboa Park. Whaddya think?

Hey ChiTown! I’m so sorry you feel that way! Yah, it was NUTSO on Saturday, but it was also one of the most genuinely fun parties I’ve been to in a LONG time. Your pizzazz and punch was missed and it would have been wonderful to have had you out here with us this weekend. We mentioned the absence of your company several times on Saturday. For the record, I wouldn’t mind spending the day with your beautiful babies. An adventure it would be, as is all of life. I savor every unique moment of it. The icing on the cake would be that I’d then sneak off with Buster in my giant purse! Tee hee.

Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone! I love all of your blogs by the way!!!
