Happy New Year!

Yup, I hocked that pic from fotosearch, but I'm giving it its due props. Thanks fotosearch! After browsing through pictures of champagne, fireworks, confetti, and balloons, I picked candlelight because that is "Roshani" in the Islamic culture....light is ethereal, hopeful, energizing, nurturing, and it always holds a promise for us.

Today I'm home from work. Ed went for a few hours, but he's back now. We both really need to feel better. Both of us are hacking and oozing body goo, so we'll need the next few days to feel better for the first work week of 2009.

After a chest x-ray on Monday, I was glad to know that I am not suffering from pneumonia, but I do have a mild case of bronchitis. My doc's nutty ass nurse said something about wanting to give me Prednisone, but uhhhh, no thanks. Brings back nasty memories from when Nick was battling cancer. As long as my case is mild, I'll fight it with OTC stuff, hot soup, saline rinses, and rest. Oh, and my Golden Nursemaids, of course. We made a giant pot of chicken soup last night, so we should be good for the next couple of days.

We're looking forward to another wonderful New Year's Eve. This is our 6th one together. Amazing. Right now I'm feeling ambitious, so I'm thinking we'll make some homemade meatballs with spaghetti. But, who knows how I'll feel by tonight. If not, we'll toast over some hot chicken soup and garlic toast.

Even if we weren't sick, this is our usual celebration.... Ed, me, our golden babies, our fine feathered green baby, in our home...reflecting on the year past, and looking on to the next one. Simple. Perfect.

Whatever your plans may be for this celebratory night, may they be joyful plans, full of love, laughter, and energy.

Hacking and oozing body goo? Why did I think you were feeling better? Yikes! You gotta take care of that stuff! That's just no fun!

I hope you have a pleasant evening and wake up feeling a least a bit better.

We are lying low this year for a change. We usually do a big ol "Adult Pajama Party" at our house for New Years, but not this year...just wanted to take it easy.

Take care, and feel better soon!

So sorry that you and your sweetie are both feeling puny (that's what we say in the South when someone is sick ..."feeling puny"...)

Glad it's not pneumonia. Pneumonia is very sneaky. I had it last March and had no CLUE I had it. I thought I just had a lingering cough.

And yes, prednisone brings back bad memories for me too.... when J was a tiny premature baby and was in and out of the hospital with respiratory ailment after respiratory ailment.... NO THANKS. (I hear ya.)

Oh, guess what. My older brother and his family lost their Golden yesterday to cancer. His name was Robo. They are very sad. :( They posted a tribute to him on their FaceBook page. I think I'm going to send my niece and nephew "Dog Heaven"... that helped my kids when Chloe died.

Anyway, on a LIGHTER note, I liked your picture of candle light. I love candle light, too.... and the symbolism between light, love and God's unconditional love. (Feeling pensive this evening... can ya tell???) :)

Happy New Year to you and Ed and the furbabies! (Ruby is doing GREAT by the way!) :)

Happy New Year - here's to a healthy one, I hope! Someone in our family gave the gift that keeps on giving this year and we're passing a cold back and forth between houses. Now that the stress of December is over, I plan to start the new year right - by relaxing with a good book and a cat in my lap:D

Congratulations to you and Ed on what's happened over the past year (you know, that whole marriage thing and all!) May 2009 be as happy for you, Love from all of us here in NJ.
