A huge T*H*A*N*K ***Y*O*U to our lovely friends and amazing host and hostess, Amos and Lynne, along with pretty gal Katie. We love you guys! I felt as if I were with family when I sat at their table. Their good friends, Gil (along with his doggie, Mija) and Jerry (with his furry girl, Caddie) were also present for the memories.
So, I'm basking in my post turkey day glow. Got the day off from work. Ed doesn't. Ha ha ha!!! Wheee! Lucky me! The boys and I "decided" to take a loooong walk this morning. They weren't too motivated after their big day yesterday. It went something like this:
"Uhhh, momma? Do we weally, weally have to got on a walk? Huh, momma? Weally?"
"Oh yeah, we're walkin'! And stop trying to butter me up with that puppy baby talk. It's not going to work," I replied as I laced up my running shoes.
"But momma! Pweeease? Can we pweease just sweep in for a widdle bit more time? We're so ty-urd...pwease?!" I looked into their beautiful brown eyes, heavy lidded with sleep and full of eye boogies and said,
"Pssshaw! Get your golden butts off your cushy dog beds and get to walkin'! Chop chop! We ALL need to go on a walk!"
"Otay, momma. Otay....but ummm, momma, wemember that, that...ummm... momma, we weally wuv you, otay?"
"Yeah, yeah, likely story. Get to marchin'!"
"Brother, I tell you what. She'd better give us some of that delicious turkey Auntie Lynne packed up for us when we're through walkin' or else..." Achilles muttered out the side of his mouth to Milo as they lazily sauntered out the front door.
"Hey, I heard that! No talkin' behind your beloved momma's back, ok? Now walk I said." (I'm an evil doggie momma, aren't I? Ha ha ha!)
The boys and I chatted the entire time on our walk. They listened quietly as I told them how much I wished Nick had been with us yesterday. How it was Thanksgiving week last year that we were told Nick had lymphoma. I became a bit sad and emotional at the park and Milo, bless his giant heart, sensed it right away. He was several yards away from me as I sat on the bench with memories of my first golden baby, Nick-o-rus. Milo looked over at me, paused with perked ears, and then trotted right over to me, stood between my legs and nuzzled my belly. I kissed his goofy, warm golden head. He returned the favor with little kisses on my neck, licking away the tears that had trickled down.
Burying my face in his fur and I told him over and over how much I love him. I feel so awful and guilty missing Nick because I feel as if I'm being unfair to Achilles and Milo, as if I'm somehow slighting them. *Sigh* Well, by this time Achilles figured out something was going on with momma and he wiggle-waggled on over, sat down with his little pigeoned paws peeking out and smiled at me as if to say, "What? Why so sad, momma? Here we are and we wuv you!!!Perchance, would you have a treat in your bag for me and only me? Maybe some of that yummy turkey from last night??? Just wonderin, momma, just wonderin..." I didn't remain sad for very long. My baby boys knew just what to do to make me smile. :-)
Well, there were no other doggies at the dog park which bummed me out because I wanted A & M to get some play time and exercise. Of course, the two of them didn't mind. They were more than happy to waddle on back home. When we returned I made sure the golden babies had their fill of glorious leftovers. They gobbled their breakfast as if they hadn't spent the entire day yesterday receiving turkey and treats from all of us. Then they smacked their lips in delicious satisfaction as they turned three times in a circle and plopped down for their nap. They've been napping hard core since then. Every once in a while they're kind enough to waft a massive fart or two in mommy's direction, just to remind her how delicious Thanksgiving dinner really was.
Anyway, this morning, in an effort to recapture last night's fun, I tried to copy Amos' laugh. It's a boisterous, energy filled laugh that peaks with a smile invoking guffaw. I just LOVE that laugh! So, as I'm practicing my new "borrowed" laugh, Ed looks at me and says that I'm murdering the laugh. Pssssshhht! I guess someone is grouchy because someone doesn't have the day off like someone else does. (Love you baby.:-) Hee hee.
The pictures I snapped don't do the cherished memories any justice at all, but I loved taking these pics nonetheless.
We love Amos! Momma's working on capturing his laugh. :-)
Amos with Milo and Caddie, doling out endless love and affection.
Milo on Macky Marshmallow's soft bed. We missed you too, golden girl.
Achilles is very disappointed he couldn't lick the dish clean. Harumph. Humans and their need to "wash" dishes clean when a perfectly good golden helper is around.
Achilles back at the magical countertop wishing he were taller. Mmmm, to all my vegetarian friends I must apologize ahead of time, but that bird was effin' AMAZING! Yum, yum, yum.
Achilles' patience at the magical countertop was impressive. His patience was rewarded over and over. And over and over. Trust me, he taste tested every single dish prepared in that glorious kitchen. Amos made sure of it. :-)
Post dinner fun.
Friends and laughter and memory making.
Thanksgiving 2007 was beautiful. I love our friends. I love our furry and feathered babies. I love our life.

Aww, I'm so glad you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving!
I love how you can see at least some part of a dog's body in EVERY single one of those pictures! Even the last few you could still make out the lump of a dog. SOOOO PRECIOUS! For a moment I thought this was a dog birthday party and forgot it was Thanksgiving!
Hey gals!
Hope you're Thanksgiving was just as incredible. Laura, I didn't even realize that there was a dog or part of a dog in every pic. Too funny. Good eye! Yeah, they had a blast that night. We all did.
:-)
