Great News Galore! (For a change...)

Great news! "Wrecks" Grossman has been benched and Da Bears are going to go with Brian Griese this Sunday against the Lions. I've got to hope and pray that he can't be worse than Wrecks.

Other great news! We now have the church AND reception site nailed down. I’ve talked to married friends and apparently that’s some sort of record. Most of them endured weeks of visiting multiple wedding sites, comparing everything from the chandeliers in the reception hall to whether or not the linens matched this or that. Nope, not me. HELL NO! SAVE THAT DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMA! I want this to be as painless as freakin' possible. If this were up to me I'd elope to Italy and then travel with my love.

Most places I called were either fully booked for 888 (as I'm now referring to our wedding date) or they were charging a limb because of the auspicious date. It's well known that the Navy owns the most coveted, oceanfront, most beautiful land in San Diego. Well, Ed told me about the Admiral Kidd Club and it's an absolutely stunning location right on the water with views of the skyline, Coronado, the bay and the ocean. When I called they told me that their Harbor Lounge and Patio was the last room available for that evening. SOLD! I booked it right away over the phone for 6 pm to midnight. The patio overlooks the wide open water and it's trellis covered it case it "rains" out here. Yeah, right.

Additional great news! Ed and I approved the final design of my ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL. We were with Jenny for over an hour last night and she paid attention to every one of our last detailed request. I get to see the wax model of the finalized ring on Monday and then the ONE RING will be forged. Bwuuuu-haw-haw-haw!!!! (I'm so evil, no? Ha ha ha!)

(Jenny's great! If anyone is ever looking for a custom jewelery designer, let me know! Her metal work is beautiful as well.)

Even more great news! Anna and I were finally able to get together for my birthday lunch today. Yipee! We've been rainchecking the lunch for almost 2 months now and it was great to just chow and chat. She took me to Monsoon for delicious Indian food. They have the most wonderful and HUGE lunch buffet. I returned to work ready to explode and then a nap. Mmmmm, Indian food. Love it. She also gifted me with a MONSTER Starbucks gift card (Holy Caffeine for the entire year!!!) and a breathtaking bouquet of roses as an engagement/congratulatory gift.

You know, the family madness surrounding our engagement has been trying, to say the least! But, in a way I'm grateful for the madness because it makes me really appreciate and acknowledge my truly wonderful, amazing my friends. I am so fucking lucky!!!!!

Linnea sent us a touching and unique congratulations card. She wrote things that made me laugh out loud and also bring tears to my eyes, tears in thanks for such a great girlfriend. Her birthday is tomorrow and I'll miss not having her here. I always wanted to go to the Doheny Days Blues Fest with her, but we never went. Something always came up. I really need to get better at stuff like that. I really do. Life is way too short and now she's in Chicago and we can't go even if we could. Phoooey!

Laura texted me ALL THE WAY FROM GREECE even though she was surrounded by wine, men, jewels and the magic of the alabaster islands. It touched me so that in all that splendor she took the time to type out a LONG ASS text message of congratulations and well wishes. Which reminds me, I've still got to find time to catch up with her and set up another "play" date. Hee hee.

Lynne has been a solid, igneous, tranquil land mass in the midst of a stormy sea, a place I'm privileged to visit and feel welcome. I'm floored by her insight at times. Lynne and her hubby are going to be foster parents to our boys when we take our east coast vacation. Their house is paradise. If I were a dog I wouldn't want to go back home with me.

Adrienne is moving back home to Texas (and leaving me!) and yet in all of that chaos she's helping me out with the boys and with work errands. I'm going to miss her like crazy! Oh, memories of that one wacky Cinco de Mayo!!! I thought her hubby was going to kill me!!! Bad tequila! Bad! Bad! Bad!

(Hey, is it just me or my girlfriends taking flight in records numbers? First, Linnea to Chi-town and now Adrienne back to Texas. What? Was it something I said!? Do I need to change deodorant?!? :-))

I'm still so stuffed from my delicious birthday lunch. I feel like I need to burp to make room in my tummy! I am such a LADY!!!

Just so you know, I plan to make Laura ditch Tom so I can be her guest at the 888 Bash! I'm glad your Wednesday went so well. Things will all fall into place, because whatever happens is meant to be. By the way, Tequila Rose is one of my all-time FAVORITE treats!! We'll have to be sure to have some on hand for when all us girls finally get together!
