Maternal rejection, Animal affection

I was supposed to drive up to my mom's tonight, but then found out I'm not wanted up there right now. My sister, M, made sure that she hurt our mom's feelings good and solid. So, my mom is so hurt right now that she doesn't want to see any of her kids, including me. I understand that she needs time and space, but dammit, it still hurts like the devil being rejected by your mom. :-(

Anyone watch that Sopranos episode where Tony talks about trying to get on the moving bus his mother was driving? She wouldn't stop to let him on no matter how much he begged. Dr. Melfi said it was the quintessential reality about our mothers...we spend 9 months of our lives desperately trying to get out of the womb, and then the rest of our lives trying to get back in. Obviously a figurative comparison, but it's true. Why do we expend such enormous amounts of energy, especially as daughters, trying to get back in with our mother's good graces, when so often it leads to disappointment? Deeeep breath. Oh well. What can I do? I love her and adore her. It is what it is.

So, what to do on a random Tuesday night then? Well, why not do something that always brings a smile to my face and light in my heart...post pics of my furbabies, of course.

Here are pics from Achilles' trip up to the OC to meet his Auntie Laura and his golden cousin, Wrigley.

Handsome puppy, Wrigs. Boy, he is such a good dog. For as young as he is, he listens to some tough commands (like "leave it"). Oh, if only this picture could have captured his eyes. Pure golden whiskey color with pitch black contrast. They're fabulous.

This is Cousin Chumley and his lover, the stuffed bear. He was a bit overwhelmed by all the hullabaloo, so he kept the vase company. Handsome devil of a kitty, isn't he?

Achilles in our kitchen before we left on our OC road trip. I love this picture. Once again, he thinks mommy is the hilarious-est.

Mommy, when are we going to leave on our woad twip? I'm getting sweepy...

Yay! Finally, we're leaving for the OC. Mommy said I was a really good car doggie. She wuvs me so much. She even gave me a Kong FULL of my favorite yummy treats.

Achilles & Wrigs hangin' in Auntie Laura's backyard. Wrigs just LOVES his sticks. Tom sometimes finds them on the golf course and brings them home for Wrigs in his golf bag. Now that's love folks!!!

Here I am in Auntie Laura's driveway just waiting for the thunderstorms to roll in. Mommy and Auntie Laura were having green tea lattes. Mommy let me have some. I made a mess of it though, but I'm cute and got away with it. :-)
Thank goodness for fur-babies.

OH I Miss you guys! I LOVE the pics of Achilles, esp the one with him and Wrigs outside, again he sits pigeon pawed! He is such a good sport with a gently soul, just like his Mom. I'm sorry to read about your situation with your Mom. It's just not fair to you. I'm here if you need to vent. Like you say, THANK GOD FOR THE FURRY ONES! They get us through sooo much don't they?

YOu are NEVER going to guess what Wrigs just did!!! I left the pantry door open (I'm in the office) and all the sudden I hear CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!!! He got into that box of treats!!! Thanks a LOT Achilles!! SOOOOOO NAUGHTY!! I just scolded him and told him NO NO NO and he just stood there looking up at me with Cookie Lips. I'm going to have to remember to close that dang door now!
